Thank You

A loud shout-out Thank You! to all those wonderful neighbors who have shown up with tools in hand to answer the bell of cemetery cleanup over the DECADES! This award would never have been possible without your enthusiasm, dedication and civic pride.

Will's Eagle Scout Project

One of your young neighbors, William Winbecker of Morier Street, is working towards his Eagle Scout rank. His project involves cleaning the headstones and stone walls in our Historic St. Nicholas Cemetery. He posted this request on the neighborhood Facebook page last week. In case you are not on Facebook but do get postings from this blog, here's what he wrote.

"The (his) project will take place on Sunday, November 4, at 10:30 AM and end at around 2 or 3 in the afternoon depending on how many people attend. Lunch and refreshments will be provided. Please bring working gloves and common yard tools if possible. Please rsvp by text to (410)353-4084 if you are interested so I know how many people to expect. Mark your calendars and I hope to see you soon."

If you have already RSVP, let this simply serve as a reminder. But if you plan to come but can not respond by texting, email me at kay.gilmour@gmail.com and I will let him know you'll be there.

CLEANUP POSTPONED

Already posted to the St. Nicholas Neighborhood Facebook page - but feared there might be those who might miss it there.

"Just returned from 2 weeks of a self-drive safari in Namibia to find it has been a bit rainy here at home! Too wet to mow the cemetery - much less rake and weed-whack.

So the cleanup scheduled for the 16th will be postponed until further notice and dryer weather.

Here's just one of the big cats we saw and photographed! Lions, cheetah, leopards, and African Wildcats."

Here is a copy of the recently discovered historical document of the wonderful neighborhood of the Saint Nicholas Cemetery. Thanks to the Berry family for saving it to share with all of us.

Thanks to the DAR

Our thanks to the Fort San Nicholas Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution for their generous contribution to the cemetery upkeep fund. It will be used for some needed tree work later in the spring.

2018 River Run

Just a note to let everyone know that the cemetery will be mowed and tidied up for the upcoming race.

Good luck to all our family members, friends and neighbors that will be jogging by in just a few days.
